R Workshop in The Oldest Dutch City

Lara Ivanković Tatalović spent the last week at Radboud University in Nijmegen, the oldest city in the Netherlands, where she attended the programming course „Getting Started With R: An Introduction to Data Analytics“. This workshop brought together participants from all over the world and with a rich variety of backgrounds – economy, veterinary, pharmaceutics, business management, and of course, biology. This highlights the versatility and widespread use of the R programming language, which Lara will utilise in future analyses.

Professor Thomas Niederkofler, PhD, used a combination of individual approaches and group assignments, which facilitated the processing of large amounts of information in a short five days. This approach also encouraged a relaxed learning environment where course attendees helped one another. Furthermore, the course offered plenty of free time for coffee, cinnamon biscuits, and most importantly, making new connections. Nijmegen is a beautiful city, and with Radboud University offering many different workshops, Lara hopes to return one day.
